Dear VCE,
I used to really care about you, but as you've probably realised, I don't anymore. You've made me apathetic, which is due to the fact that I can see that you're not the end of the world. You're not important. Your numbers don't mean anything.
In many ways, you're better than the French BAC system and the American APs and SATs. In many ways, you're not. I appreciate that many people worked long and hard hours to construct your many faces. I do believe that they had to make some compromises; some compromises that have made me very dissatisfied with you. You're too simplistic at times, and you can't differentiate at the upper end. In this respect, I wish you were more like your cousin, the HSC. But I can't change you. You're who you are.
You're nearing your final days. In several years, you will fall into a quiet slumber as your child, the Australian Certificate of Education, takes the reigns. And who knows what will come of that?
