I know... I know griffith is slightly below UQ.... but people are considering them the same nowadays, just the 48k is ridiculous!

The government will pay for some of your FFP. The limit for medicine is (from memory) 100k, which is the first 2 years of your course. You still have to find 100k yourself but I'd much rather have interest on a 100k loan than a 200k loan.

That said, I think BMP is a better choice than FFP if you have any interest in spending some time in less urban environments (and the hospitals there have a reputation for better clinical experiences)

Yeah about that (51k). So if you get a 100k loan from the government with 0% interest, you still have to find another 100k yourself. There may be other options, I don't know much about FEE-HELP

Nope. There's a 106k limit (just checked) on loans from the government to pay uni fees for medicine. If you have to pay 51k a year, you obviously can't defer all 4 years of your course because that adds up to roughly twice the government limit.

You can defer the first two years, but you'll have to come up with the rest of the money yourself.

That's only for a FFP of course, a CSP is at standard, subsidized rates.

BSc is a CSP (it has to be because you're a domestic student) so you can defer all of it if you want. Otherwise it's probably about 4 or 5 grand a year.

And as for personal loans...I'm not a banker but 11% or so?

Protest outside the state library to make them loan the whole thing.  They should anyway, considering you need to start in the public system and you will be doing them a favour by completing the training.
