Go for the newer edition..assuming they are the same price, I always find it better for 'new' things.
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
-Martin Niemoller, a german pastor

I see absolutely no point in writing notes for maths.
I tried it for Year 10 Tech-active...didn't even touch it, let alone the CAS...scientific all the way :)
Practice your maths, keep practising, and well....keep practising.
When you get the DHA bound reference there is space at the back to add your own notes anyway...

1. Year 10 math is a joke, it is hard not to get <80% if you are decent at maths
2. Writing own notes (including example problems, hard problems) allows a person to add what they really have troubles with instead of an 8 page summary on functions which they may not need
3. Writing stuff down makes it easier to remember things
Geez I'm so sorry if some of us struggle with maths. Keep your genius and nerd comments to yourself.

Considering you did say that writing notes for maths has absolutely no point, it's a bit rich to say that don't you think?

Not at all. That is merely my opinion. However telling members that Year 10 maths is a joke where several of us find it a struggle is quite insulting and detrimental to self-confidence; have a look at Hutchoo's Nub Maths thread and then come back.

I think that you should listen to what your teacher is teaching in class, even when he/she is writing notes on the board. After they have finished teaching that setion then you should copy down the notes (you could probably write down notes at the same time, but you would want to pay attention to what they are saying)

I find wrting a summary book good, it is revision in itself even if you dont have to use it...

I've found that this works really well too. Earlier this year I was struggling to understand the concepts the teacher was teaching because I was focused more on writing down the notes than actually comprehending what they meant. Just sitting back and taking in the information first can be really helpful for learning new concepts.

My maths teacher erased things several times so you had to write as she went. Well you scribbled in between her breaths.
