I see absolutely no point in writing notes for maths.
I tried it for Year 10 Tech-active...didn't even touch it, let alone the CAS...scientific all the way 
Practice your maths, keep practising, and well....keep practising.
When you get the DHA bound reference there is space at the back to add your own notes anyway...
1. Year 10 math is a joke, it is hard not to get <80% if you are decent at maths
2. Writing own notes (including example problems, hard problems) allows a person to add what they really have troubles with instead of an 8 page summary on functions which they may not need
3. Writing stuff down makes it easier to remember things
That statement is a joke, you clearly don't know enough people in your year level.
