Methods 3/4 Preparatory Paper +Solutions
« on: November 28, 2010, 05:54:35 pm »

Hey guys,

I wrote something up for a couple of my students/friends and thought I'd share it on here.

It's for anyone doing 3/4 methods, so give it a try and tell me what you think. I plan on writing more during the year and releasing some of them for everyone (including the "VCEnotes" trial papers). It's not made to be hard or challenging, it's just testing some of the components of the 1/2 course, which may be important to know for 3/4.

Let me know what you think, and any errors!

Solutions up! Please inform me if anything is wrong, they are a bit rushed. Pardon me for the quality :X

p.s. VN Ethics brigade, please leave me alone! I'm sharing it for free okay =.=

--------------------------------

Errors I am aware of:
The good luck animal is a cat, not a taiga
Taiga is not how you spell "tiger"
graph should have axis f(x), not y
3b should read the x-axis, y-axis, the line x=-2, and the curve

Honestly, if I had done this at the start of the year, I would have been stuck for everything after question 1. >_<

Edit: Pretty good paper on the whole though. I'd do it. =)

Very good paper taiga.

Possibly needs a probability question or two, but other than that, a very good introduction.  :)

Edit: Just saw the prob Q, my bad.

Also this is reflective of this years exam 1, which was mainly calculus based.

Ow, I didn't intend for it to be too difficult, I think there are some things like the period, range, and factorization of a cubic which really are musts for knowing by the end of 1/2 though :X

After doing 1+2, would say that it is tough, but do-able for sure. Good work taiga!

I don't know what everyone is saying, it wasn't too difficult but I'm glad I did it, found an area I may want to read over again!

Also, Q12, b)... If matt is so bad, why is he on the team?!?!

good point, but thats maths I suppose... logic doesn't play much part in methods 1+2 questions

Sorry, my comment was kinda stupid. I didn't do units 1/2 so at the start of this year much of the stuff on that paper would have been quite foreign to me. Once again, a really good paper. What's your intention with making these? A once off or...?
