I  just did very poorly on the itute exam.. (<30 above 20)
what are you guys getting on it?
Although i made a heap of silly errors, i practically left the last two probability questions T_T .. should probably revise probability... probably
I think it was not a bad exam,
i learned a few safer short cuts which i will most likely use/recognise in the future.
But the quality of the itute exam was not as good as the MAV exam.. It's just a 'tedious' paper as opposed to difficult/thinking required

Which year was this iTute exam? :P
2010: Chinese SL [43]
2011: English [47] | Mathematical Methods CAS [41]| Specialist Mathematics [38] | Chemistry [40] | Physics [37]
ATAR: 99.55

did you do the he methods exam today andiio? what time?

Need help with this:
cos(x/2) = 0                     -pi < x < pi
i got x = pi or -pi
solutions say that x = -pi only, as x/2 = 3pi/2 is outside the domain and is rejected, but arent they forgetting x/2 = pi/2 is in the domain? The jackasses..

also,
how do you go about differentiating a modulus function? I once tried splitting it into its hybrid components, but I had two final answers, one of which was wrong, whilst the other was right, and i did not know why

Some questions are literally not doable by hand. You NEED a CAS.

for differentiating mod, you need to get it into the hybrid, but often you will need to reject an answer based on restrictions etc. but we dont need to do this (ever). i've spoken to an examiner and he said the exam writers dont like putting it in because it's not covered in class and high end students dont know it so it ruins their ranking scheme.

do we need to know how to describe rotations through transformation matrix?

eg:
[ cos(A)     -sin(A)]
[ sin(A)      cos(A)]

= = anticlockwise rotation of A degrees about the origin
??

never went through it in school

we probably do, since it was covered in unit1/2
