It's a transcendental equation. You can only approximate.

When it says to round off to the nearest minute what would you do?
Say you get an answer like 1.66666666667 hours. Can you just write 1.7 hours or would the answer have to be 100 minutes, or close enough to that?

no, you should have your answer in minutes.

If it asks you to HENCE solve ____, or asks you to USE YOUR ANSWER FROM PART __, and you had to use an answer you acquired in the previous Q, would you use the rounded answer specified in the question? (assuming that the previous part specified you give your answer according to the nearest minute or something like that)

Let's say a Q has info in hours, and asks you to give the answer to the nearest minute (some VCAA paper).
So hours = 3.19

If i gave 3hr, 11minutes is that OK or does it have to be 191?

dont know if both are acceptable, but imo, 191 is the best way to go, so you are just working with one unit.

Probability of a head = 0.5, how many times in a row must we obtain a head so that the probability of a head occurring n times is less than 0.0005. So, 0.5^n<0.0005 which leads to the answer n=11 iirc

I'm pretty sure it is a prerequisite. I can't imagine you being able to pick up methods 3/4 without the assumed knowledge base of 1/2. I know for a fact at my school they won't allow you to transfer to methods 3/4 if you haven't done the 1/2. Not sure what your school's policy is on the matter though.
