Overhyped. I mean the new website looks cooler and it's more comprehensive (and future-proof), but it is hardly "revolutionary" as you hyped it up to be. :P

We briefly discussed it at the VN meet the other day. It definitely has the potential to be awesome, but it's not awesome yet.

It would be cool if we could get people to start talking in the National forum section to make it look less plain (to a new user it looks very mediocre), additionally if the non-education discussion could be moved to the national page, it would look ALOT more like a massive community.

At the moment if you are a Western Australian student, unless out of curiosity you click the link, you will be oblivious to the bustling community that is VN.

This would get more people to stick around and post :)

Also the impression  may have been given that there would be multiple things :P

All said, the new layout of the "notes" is ownage :D

To be honest, i think it's great news for AN as a business but not really of massive benefit to students. Of course this might attract more members and make the community better, but I was expecting more. ATAR Notes was quite an obvious progression. I think many members would've liked at least an upgrade to SMF 2, even though it is a superficial change. So yeah, take the feedback onboard :D

I like it, its a great step forward. I think people are disappointed because the other forums are still establishing themselves.

Heh, reaction I expected. In terms of the Victorian population, the revolution hasn't really changed anything much for them individually. At least not yet. Once word starts spreading, the population of AN is going to go up exponentially though.

Apart from making it longer to scroll down to the active threads, its great! The home page is great and all but people spend ~2 seconds on it and then BAM! - they move on into the VCE forums.

Seconded. The home page is nicer and I went to see the notes - the design very good and atheistically pleasing to the eye.

Well the feedback I've liked so far is from taiga which is to take the off-topic discussion to the National forum. And, we will move the database tables tonight and have that going.

As for SMF 2... I'm not going to upgrade to it while it's only a release candidate. Once they release SMF 2.0.0 officially, we'll work on manually updating. The CTO will try to do it and if he can't (because we've hacked the SMF 1.1.9 software to pieces so hard that the automatic updater is going to take one look at it and go "wtf mate" and go ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR), then I might pay Daniel Lo Nigro some money to make the upgrade :P
