Just officially finished Chinatown!
If you want to score well, mention this in your essay:
- what the title 'Chinatown' represents (the idea of nothing being as it seems, Chinatown not just a physical place but also a state of mind for Gittes)
- Noah Cross destroys any chance of happiness for Evelyn: first by abusing parental power, then by killing her
- Evelyn's death not only symbolises the destruction of her relationships with Gittes and Katherine, but also represents the dangerous future awaiting Katherine now that her mother is gone
- appropriate neo noir / film noir language (e.g. mystery, femme fatale)
- lots of examples from the film which have parallels with Polanski's life
Good luck
