I don't do BM, but my friend was ranked 1 (in a school that got 13 50s in BM a couple of years ago) and got a 39...

Must have been a hard exam
Who? Lies.
Haha this guy was number 1, and got the 50 he deserved!

Burberry, I have a feeling that person was lying too... I didn't think the teachers told ranks in MHS.

No they didn't. Why post if you think they were lying?

I wasn't sure, he was damn good at BM though (looking at his SACs I thought it could have been true).

Clearly I was wrong though

Did you get the BM prize?  (the bio prize went to a guy with 47)

Oh well, you'd take the 50 any day over a pile of books (prizes are over-rated)

I did surprisingly good, 40. Not bad given I only studied for it 3 days before exam and night before each SAC. Bludge subject fer sure.

That happened in my year as well I think. The guy who got the BM prize ended up getting like 39 as well I think. That shoulda been my prize! D: Same goes for bio actually; guy who got that in '07 ended up getting 42 I think. Just shows that SACs aren't the best indicator for exam performance.

Hmm I dunno I got C+ for methods and A+/B+ for exams...

A+, A+, B+
Score: 38
Overall Ranking for units 3 & 4: 2
My teachers Indicative Result: A+
How the fuck can I investigate discrepancies.. You wouldn't believe how pissed off I am with my result, my mate who was number 1 was neck and neck with me throughout the entire year and got 49 yet I end up with 38

Was anybody surprised that the scaling was as much as it was?

It was such a bizarre exam i expected the scaling to be less, as i thought people would have found it harder?

Also, anybody cop some random ass grades? I got 2 D's for economics and a C+, that's such a huge difference! (eco is my worst sub. lol)

I really hoped the scaling was like -1, but in the end it didn't really affect my ATAR as much as it could have.

Also yeah, economics got a C lol.. then again didn't study (didn't study for accounting too, yet I got a B+? :S)

The scaling has little, if any correlation to the exam. That's to do with where the cutoffs are. Scaling depends on the calibre of students within a subject.
