What subject did you fluke?
« on: December 14, 2010, 08:17:52 pm »
Come on, fess up. What score did you not really deserve? My English teacher accused me of cheating in a SAC because I got a high mark and didn't do any of the prepatory work and then called my parents because I didn't write any practice essays over the september holidays. I skipped about a quarter of English classes and in year 11 English I did methods work during class (ironically, I got a lower score in methods even AFTER scaling). What did I get for English? 44!!! Biggest shock of my life....

Who was it that marked your SAC? Was it not your teacher?
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

It was my teacher but it was also crossmarked. But she said I was cheating.

Accounting. No work or stress. My top raw score.

I basically worked on Spesh and Hebrew all year. See how that turned out :P

Spesh scaling is higher than last year i think. Last year was 50-->51.2, this year it's 50-51.6. Still low, but I'll take it lol

English.

Other than some early year lang analysis practice, and the 8 pieces I wrote for SACs, I did nothing else.  Did not write a single essay in the lead up to exams, or for the whole year and did not finish any notes.  Only read the books once.

Not a single prac exam or piece in the lead up to the exam.

Just gave myself an hour for each piece, followed a formula and threw in some language which you would get beat up for if you used in real life.

I was quietly confident I'd get 40, because I thought a couple of my pieces were strong, but this again proves that VCE is nothing more than conforming (to the extent that you are such a conformist that you are willing to write a piece about why humans shouldn't conform just to get a good mark :P) and doing exactly what you know the examiner wants to see.

This is the biggest +1 i've ever given.
Reasons like this are precisely why VCE is no measure of actual intellectual ability.

Spesh is now scaling like methods. :P   Congrats on the 50 mate, you deserve it!

This is so true. I don't find English more than that when it comes to the exam.

Didn't listen to one word from my Business Management teacher, which was the best course of action to take considering the teacher's knowledge of the course. I did the least amount of work for Bus Man out of all my subjects and got a 50.

english 38, when i expected 42+
GAs were B+ A A+, never knew my SACs to be so weak considering i only ever got "high" for them :S you would think my teacher would tell me to lift my game if they were that low but...
sorry this is like the 3rd time ive vented about this, i just feel cheated of a great score
