The VN excellence awards???

Okay, I am going to throw this suggestion up.

I am not sure if enwiabe will like it, but here goes anyway.

This is obviously too late for this year, however it could work for next year.

What if you host full blown VN excellence awards?

Registrations up until a certain date would be eligible for them, with awards going to those who achieved:
-The highest score for their subject on VN   and/or
-The dux or proxime of VN

I think it would be a great way to introduce the members, but more importantly, this is without doubt where most of the highest achieving students are nowadays.  I reckon you could easily get a newspaper article on it, if not a news camera crew.

Then sign ups would go through the roof, enwiabe gets to give the site more exposure, and the very high achievers will get what I would say is a fairly awesome award!

Results would have to be verified either in the newspaper or by VCAA/VTAC statement.  And as I mentioned, only sign ups until a certain date should be eligible, because there were many VN members who jumped on board very late this year!  A minimum post rate could also maybe be enforced, nothing massive, but something that qualifies someone as an 'active user.'

Anyone like it?

It actually sounds pretty neat. I'm sure (given the state of our news media) VN would make it on TV. Extreme exposure to potential members. Essentially, free advertising.

Think about it for a minute. If all the high achievers claim that their study scores and ATARs would not have been possible without an online forum, I'm pretty sure people would be interested. If VN is presented as a way to transcend "crappy" schools, so to speak, it would not only be relevant to current social issues like school funding, it would also present the internet and its communication mediums as "beneficial", contrary to popular belief.

Why is it called Dux :3? Why can't it be called Summa Cumlaude or Magna Cumlaude

Anything student run automatically gets blown up more though.

Potential Problem: High scorers don't want to be put in papers, dont want to have to go up on stage and receive a prize.

EDIT: Good point above.

You'd need to have the awards like on the Firday after results because there would still be lots of excitement.

Aren't premz awards at some totally irrelevant time when no on caares?

Why is it called Dux :3? Why can't it be called Summa Cumlaude or Magna Cumlaude

Because it's only a high school certificate and this is Australia

Also being known as the Magna Cumlaude could leave you open to a lot of name calling. I don't think I need to explain any more?

Problem: people here may not necessarily want others to know who they are in real life...
