a probable explanation was that you were one of the lowe 42's, and that there was a huge spread of results/

Chem A+, A, A+ = 44
SACs 191->182 ( :tickedoff: )
Exam 1: 74/75
Exam 2: 80/82
As I had suspected, exams were good enough for a 49 or 50, sigh...

Wtf, why were u SACs pulled DOWN? reading that actually pissed me off, i feel bad for you

Unfortunately he wasn't rank 1 :(

This should be used as a model to show the importance of SACs!

I think so, if not rank 3 maybe?
I'll let him explain when he comes on, but I think it was pretty close in terms of ranks but unfortunately they were useless in the exam!

Yep, I was rank 3 actually.. 95.5% in SACs. First rank got 98% (but As in exams) second rank 96-97ish (A and A+ in exams).. they both got 39 raw.

The teacher took marks off on technicalities saying "you won't get away with that in exams"..

So, I lost 3 marks in exams, whilst another member here lost 3.5 for a 50 .. :)

True. A classmate of mine got A+, A, A+ in bio (GA2 being SACs) for a 39 raw.

Friend got the same, and he got RAW of 43, roflzor.
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

Well MAtty, the achievement is that you powned the exam, so congratulations on that! :D

Although, I know how badly SACs can hurt..

IT Applications:
GA 1: 74% -----> 86%
GA 2: 75% ------> 86%
GA 3: 150/180 (A+)
SS: 39
Some guy here got 135/180 and ended up with an SS of 42...

I was rank 3 or 4, in a cohort of 10. Basically our teacher turned out practice SACs into real SACs, let us take them home (and thus no one ever knew what mistakes we made, but the dropkicks collaborated) etc.
RAnk #1 managed an A+, pulled out a 42 (so i presume it was low) Rank#2 must have gotten an A, he got 36, rank#3 was a complete dropkick, collab'd with friends to get top in SAC, he probs got <25.

That really sucks; I would personally scrap SACs altogether and have all assessment externally assessed. Perhaps for sciences (chem especially) a practical exam like in the UK A Levels? And if they wanted to make sure that assessment isn't 100% for one particular exam - you could have twice the number of exams that we already have - problem is, that's quite strenuous...although IB has like 3 papers for chem at the same exam period...

 Basically, get rank 1 in a crappy school or suffer the consequences.

Have to confess, that was the story of my VCE life. If I wasn't rank 1 or rank 2 I would've died.
