"University Shuttle Bus Services
As you are aware the university has been dealing with a very difficult
budget outlook for 2011; the university is currently expending more than
$900,000 p.a. on providing free shuttle buses and in the current budget
environment this expenditure cannot be sustained. In order to respond to
the budget constraints the university reluctantly had to consider cutting
some or all of the shuttle bus services.
After a review of these options, it is clear that these services a very
important to many staff and students and our overall sustainable transport
initiatives. As such we have decided to maintain all current shuttle
bus services, but to offset some of the costs we will be introducing a
charge of $1 per one-way trip on all routes (with the exception of the
Frankston Station --Peninsula campus service will remain free)."
