As I said, people are going to be annoyed with any change. And I doubt he was the only one with such thoughts; it's just that when you go to statements within 2 hours of his complaint such as:

Notice how you're the ONLY one complaining?

...then no shit no one else is complaining. Like I said, complaints are always going to come in, and I still don't think continuing like this is a good way to go. Just sort out the constructive ones from any that are simply reactive. Those that are reactive will simply just fade away quickly with time so just ignore them or politely acknowledge them with no intention of actually doing anything about it. I really don't think this particularly scenario turned out the best way it could have. Anyway, it's your site, so do what you want. I just felt this thread gave off a bad sense of what the AN community is really about.

Truelight's "criticism" was addressed several times from several viewpoints. Yet he persisted in what was essentially "this is hard for me so change it back", which is disappointing particularly considering he is supposed to be a university graduate. We are human, and we will get annoyed if someone completely ignores our responses and continues in the same vein regardless.

If he had posted something more constructive, such as your post, then he would have been taken more seriously.

However, I agree that it was not handled in the best way and I apologise for my part in it.

I am sorry if it came off that it was bullying, but I was merely highly annoyed at his selfish attitude.

Jesus Christ, what the fuck happened? I was unhappy with the changes as well and I am pretty sure I was the first person here to hint at that. However, the changes were soundly justified and TrueLight was being plain unreasonable. Anyone would have become annoyed, especially considering the effort put into making this work.

Anyway, this is the same shit that goes on in every controversial thread with most of it being overlooked. I don't see how them being admins make it 'victimising' or 'bullying'.

well i felt a little uneasy witnessing this event ... however enough said about TrueLight. Regardless who's fault it is, we should all have mutual respect for one another and to hopefully deal with each other with patience in the future. Amen.

The problem was that I don't see how the changes were ever justified to him before the attacks began. From a straight forward polite no, the second thing was then a slightly scorning '...' and then finally came the first attempt at 'explaining' in the form of:

I'm sorry that your laziness to use a couple of extra seconds to get to a messageboard is such a burden. How about we set up a remote server connection to my computer, and every time you want to go to the water cooler, just tell me and I'll make the 1 or 2 extra clicks you need, k?

And in case the reason wasn't blindingly obvious, it's to 1) promote posting on what was a desolate National Board and 2) provide eventual social interaction between the states when we get those boards populated.

That doesn't seem to me like a 'polite' response. Actually read the first page and you might see the developments which actually made me feel annoyed enough to warrant the replies I made. If these came from other members, I probably wouldn't care but coming from an administration team, I'd expect better in terms of trying to attract and welcome users. Once again, suggestions and criticism is going to inevitably come up again so it ultimately comes down to the principle really.

The tone employed in enwiabe's first rage comment was done so with the intent to make him (TrueLight) feel stupid, lazy and unreasonable. Making someone feel bad and specifically targeting them when it is not necessary, is bullying, yes? <------- See what i am doing here. This was the sort of tone used by enwiabe.

Then it's all down to personal preference. One of the reasons I continued posting on VN was that the mods were acting like users. Alongside other stuff, this contributed to the sense of a community rather than a forum with police. Different strokes for different folks

^Bullying refers to an ongoing act which specifically and consistently targets a single group or person. This was a scuffle, nothing more

Okay, so it isn't ongoing, but he was targeted and victimized. A scuffle connotes otherwise.

Sure not ongoing but it was a repeating act and i clearly felt for truelight. I just thought it would have been better dealt as admins. They can see it like they have done nothing wrong but it all comes down to our standards. Um maybe we could stop there also?

Sympathisers vs. Sympathisers. This is getting quite fucking pathetic, and I can't believe I willingly jumped into this one. We'll agree to disagree then?

Am I not allowed to voice my own opinions just because I have some red stars under my name then?

Sorry, I'll remember to carry out self-censorship next time :\

edit:
One of the reasons I continued posting on VN was that the mods were acting like users.

Yes, this is the environment we're trying to create. If you want to hold us (that includes admins and mods) on some kind of pedestal, go ahead, but I am not some kind of aloof robot who doesn't have emotions and ideas. Sorry for being human. :\
