happy, you're being exceptionally pessimistic in your exam results, is there a reason for this?

If not, i'd think that your results would be substantially better

i don't get vis comm :S i hate the way it's done. Like wtffffffffffffffff.

the sacs or sats or whatever are worth 66% and the exam is worth 33%. So can ANYONE answer why would the exam score moderate the sac score when it's worth less. that's totally gay.

okay what do you all think i'd get for vis comm someones already given me advice for legal.

sacs avg 90% over unit 1 and 2. Ranked 1 out of around 9. Exam hoping for high A to mid A+.

the reason why the exam is used as a standard of moderation is because it is standard for everyone. This is because school assessments are internal, hence the scoring of students may vary school from school. [This is the case of SACs, but I have a feeling SATs are externally assessed?]
This moderation process is similar to "exchange rate" of currency if you like. A person who got 50YEN may have considerably less than 10USD, even though 50 is a much bigger number. To fairly compare everyone in the state, we moderate the internal standard with the external standard.

also, are you doing VisCom 1/2 or 3/4? because units 1/2 has no bearings on the study-score at all.

Hmmm, just wondering... are these scenario/s possible?
In an unpopulated subject you are rank 1 out of 2 students in SACS so far. The other student doesn't do any work however, so you know you are guaranteed to come 1st. Doesn't this basically mean the Exam is the only real assessment for you and that the SACS are so laughable they don't seem like assessments? That's like half the pressure that a normal student would have. Then if you happen to fluke the exam and get full marks, your SAC score will get scaled to 100% no matter what. Compare this with a high-achiever in a normal class, who has to struggle to maintain their no.1 ranking AND ace the exams.
And what about if you're the only person doing your subject. Would SACS even matter then? Or would VCAA intervene?

hahaa, that reminds me of a discussion we had about doing an Indigenous Australian language as LOTE [I believe only 2 people did it last year :P ] The scenario was that some rich kid buy out some other kid to do the subject but do no work for it, so the rich kid gets an automatic 50. ;D

VCAA is smarter than that. They only normalise studies with a big enough cohort.

though I probably misunderstood what you mean by "unpopulated subject", as in an unpopulated study at a particular school?
When that's the case, the school usually stop offering the subject as the cost of hiring a teacher is quite significant, and the student(s) usually go through do distance ed. However, as is the case with my specialist class of TWO, we were required to join cohort with another school for statistical moderation purposes. Hence, we are joined with two other schools, making up a cohort of 16 where normal rules apply [we do the same SACs, etc].

the other way of avoiding SAC pressure is to go to a crap school [like mine! iirc the next score from me was a C+ and B in the two sciences, and I am ranking 1st by far].

That sounds more like it!

Doboman, I can't do maths. No matter how hard I try, it always deters from me. When I try to understand something, it pushes something out of my brain that I have learned before. Somehow I don't think maths likes me at all! Humanities doesn't hate me, I guess. :)
