I think it was 85 then it was moved up to 89.10 (somewhere there) last year.

But! For 2011 intake, UoM will lower the Clearly-In rank for some reason I forgot. There was an article about it, hence my statement.

It says to use 85 as a guide since there will be more places offered for 2011. This has been mentioned in another thread.

Too hard to tell.  Many factors are taken into account: aptitude, subject choice, dedication, etc.

It may be easy for some to hold a high GPA and for some it might be hard.

Well, it's definitely not easy, if your not studying consistently than a very good solid grasp of all your subjects is necessary if you want to maintain that 6.5 GPA. Also, Gloamz makes a good point as well. You don't know whether you'll really enjoy the subjects that you choose and that could affect your GPA. Overall, in general if your saying average BSc student then i say its definitely a challenge, because many of the people i speak to get 50's-60's-70's and that would be a GPA of less than 6 already. Sure, people do get H1's and H2A's, but are they, or are you able to carry across this high standard to all of the subjects you do next year?

Hardest part is that once you get a score lower than 75 you need to start getting H1s to drag your GPA back up. So you can't just average 75%, you have to be getting that in all your subjects. One subject at 95% won't compensate for a subject at 55%

Yeh - the common misconception is how the GPA is calculated.  For most intents and purposes, the only difference between 80% and 100% is the ego boost!  (Well, unless you're trying to for a job where you send in your academic transcript - but for the sake of getting into a graduate degree, I spose :P)

I assume ill enjoy my subjects, I cant however be certain, Id say it depends on the students attitude, im fully intent on doing med so that motivation I hope will help me maintain a work ethic high enough for=>6.5..Also what is the cut off GPA for PG med at UoM?

"2011 is the first intake for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and no
minimum GPA or GAMSAT has been set.  The minimum will be
determined on the basis of the ranked list."

I don't think they've determined it just yet.

This year the lowest GPA was ~5.5 but the only place that's going is up.

Our of curiosity, how is GPA calculated in uom?
