Edit: Am I sure I'm smart enough for biomedicine, Can't even complete enrollment!

Haha, instead of the umat, uni's should just give med places to those that are able to enrol in the course properly.

+1

We stop at the enrol into subjects yes?

Because we need to work out what type of Calculus + Physics + Breadth subjects we need to do yes?

This is for Biomed.

Yeah I think so. I'm just gonna go ahead and pick my subjects now though.

You've probably already got this link, but if not, the subject info is here: https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2011/B-BMED

Haha, you are going to pick now?

I still need to work out breadth.

But I know I need to do Physics for Biomedicine and Calculus I.

Yeah. I have to do Calc II :( I wonder if they'll pick up on it if I just enrol in Calc I..

You can do Calc 1 if you want. Sort of a waste of a subject, though.

^ Yeah I want to do something similar.  Apparently regular Physics is better than Physics for Biomedicine.

Don't think it is allowed though.  :(

Awesome. Are you sure though? The handbook says "Students with a score of 30 or more in VCE Specialist Mathematics 3/4 will not be permitted to enrol in this subject"

I discovered I don't really like maths that much, so would much prefer to just do Calc I.

Oops, didn't notice that, since it was down the bottom of the page.

Calc 2 is easy, anyway.

Yeah, I read that too. Looks like something good came from me doing vce physics :) I do wonder which physics best prepares you for the gamsat though..

Unfortunately we have to do a maths subject, and I really don't want to do Linear Algebra or Accelerated Mathematics.

Linear algebra is even easier than Calc 2, imo. Probably best to do calc 2 if you're doing biomed, though.

You learn most of the same stuff.  It is just that the biomed one assumes you know nothing, and you have to learn everything from scratch in a very crammed amount of time.

And it doesn't even let you enroll in subjects past this year, as the ones after that need the 2011 ones as prerequisites.  :P

I will just wait for AAD from here, and procrastinate and make a thread about breadth haha.

Really? You're good at maths though yeah?

I find the course description kinda scary:

"Little of the material here has been seen at school and the level of understanding required represents an advance on previous studies."

@Stonecold. Oh, ok. THanks for the info. I feel like I've forgotten nearly everything I learnt in VCE physics..

I think I'll look into subjects a bit more over the next couple of days (I actually find it extremely fun; nerd here) and if I'm still unsure I'll wait till AAD too.
