OMG I'm in the same boat. However, I haven't applied for the irregular offer. I too, want to get into bcom melbourne uni. Apparently you need to do a few things before applying. 1. contact the university and ask if it is a wise choice to apply for the irregular offer. 2. see if you meet the clearly-in, pre-requisites 3. chances of getting a placement through the offer.

Unfortunately, i cannot apply for this because im not even in the country!!!

Apparently, by launching an irregular offer, vtac is no longer responsible for any future offers. That means no second round offer. So i don't really no what happens if you dont get an offer through an irregular offer.

Hope that helps. Good luck for us both. (Y)

do you think it's wise to go through an irregular offer now, or just wait for second round offers?

If you really want the course, than lodge an irregular offer now.
If it fails you will remain in your current course as such.
Also, there is always the option of doing a mid year app if your results/grades a high enough to warrant a transfer.

Yes, you're right.  By applying for an Irregular Offer, you forfeit your list of preferences, meaning that you won't be considered for future rounds.

Since you're not in the country, that makes it a little bit difficult.  What do you plan to do?

I'm not sure but do it as soon as possible and definitely before Round 2 because when Round 2 comes around, most courses would have filled their quota.

Crap...
Here's my situation though.
I wanted Arts/Law but just got Arts so I'm hoping for a second round offer in arts/law or science/law (was off by 0.55) because both of which were above my first round offer. I think this will be unlikely. Meanwhile I have a scholarship for Monash and it extends to the amount of time of the degree i enrol in.... Does that make sense?? So if I just get into arts and then transfer I only get it for 3 years. So I was thinking I could irregular offer it into science/arts which would mean 4 years of scholarship if I transfer into something with law....

What if you already got offered something but apply for an irregular offer and get accepted?
Can you theoretically choose to accept either offer (your first round offer OR your irregular offer) or does the first round offer become forfeited once the irregular offer application is accepted?

Your first round offer becomes forfeited, but then you can screw up the system by enrolling into your first round offer and when second round offers come you will get your irregular offer... but you wouldnt do that since applying for an irregular offer means u dont want your first round offer

Hey guys :)
I got my irregular offer APPROVED for Bach. of Science and UOM
But no confirmation letters will come until the 4th of Feb
and my other offer expires by the 27th I think ... so my question is :

Is it safe to reject the other offer because I'm scared that somehow theres still a chance the irregular offer is not definite and I dont actually have a spot.

:) Greatly appreciated if someone can set my mind to rest.

Hi, my irregular offer is approved for bcom at Uom.

I called the university today, they said that the irregular offer is definite, you now have a place in melbourne uni. Your name will appear in the second round offers for the bachelor of science. Congrats! :)

However this place is guranteed from now up until the final day for enrolment. I think it is safe to reject the other offer, but if you want to be 100% sure, call Melbourne uni.
