Fark that!

This is what you want to go on!

Absolute best piece of advice I could possibly give any new student. You'll go into uni knowing a couple of hundred new people and will pretty much assure yourself that you will know at least a bunch of people at literally every social event you go to. O'Camp is where a lot of friendship groups form, too: a lot of people who don't go to it come to uni and go to bbqs and stuff thinking 'Wtf, how does everyone know each other? Did I miss something?' The answer is yes. Yes you did. :P

Plus, it's awesome fun! ;)

This looks fun as.. Do you choose whose in your dorm or do they throw you in with new people?
Annnd, do you know when one can start filing in forms/applying?

There aren't allocated dorms; you pretty much just grab your stuff off the bus and throw it in any room. A lot of people will grab a cabin with the people they've just met on the way up, but by and large it's just 'chuck it anywhere and you'll make friends.' :P

And do you mean filling out forms for O'Camp? Whenever you want, I guess! :)

Oh aha I didn't realise we could start filing out forms already..
Weird that non-science can come, but that's fine! Is it mostly sciences though, or very much a mix?

It's a mix.

I'm still undecided on going on a camp or just regular o week celebrations. I'm cheap and travel is also hard for me :(

How many people that go to eng camp are actually eng students? ;)

Probably around 1/2 to 1/3, I'd say.

Mostly science, but there's that many science people at the uni that it's not really surprising. :P

Student clubs never discriminate in terms of membership: there are people from all faculties in the societies, women in the Men's Union, men in the Women In Engineering society, etc.

You're going on a camp? Which society are you with? I might know you. :P

I'm undecided too... I'm not really a 'camp' person, but this doesn't seem exactly like a normal camp haha.

Are these camps more 'outdoor' activities or just huge parties?

I doubt very much it is the camp where you go about on large hikes, and have to camp out in the wilderness without a real toilet and make your food on things that resemble bunsen burners..

I think that I will go to this destination melbourne thing.

Or is it really lame and boring?

I dunno, they said I could go for free, and I wanted to start meeting fellow students.

I have a steady job so I have the luxury of only taking students who won't stress me haha

All students stress me.  I hope they're not reading this.

Well, I don't think I could afford the real camps, so I guess I should go to this.
It's this weekend anyway.
