how we feeling about this timetable thing?

22nd feb is when its released, 28th is when we start uni
i say bullshit! everyone else gets like 1 month in advance to figure out a good timetable and we have to wait? slack.

i tried looking at 2010 MUTTS its so confusing, has anyone figured out a timetable?
theres like a billion activites, how do we organise this?

oh and what is the difference between, eg., PAC1111_MA_S1_DAY and PAC1111_PA_S1_DAY?

so confused there's practically no help to work out the timetable

edit: im guessing MA is malaysia campus and PA is parkville, nevertheless its still confusing

Yeah today I went onto that Allocate+ thing to do my timetable... but then I didn't know what to do. Lucky it was in FAQs that pharmacy students don't have to do theirs. Do you think everyone's timetables are going to be the same? (for lectures that is)

Bullshit I know :( Not even a week's notice!

oh true that might be the case, not many people showed up to the enrolment thing anyway (probably less than half the room filled)
IDK though its confusing

It'll be a full house when the international students are back in the country lol. Then throughout the semester the numbers die down because everyone would've realised the divine powers of Echo360/MULO.

Do you think everyone's timetables are going to be the same? (for lectures that is)
Yep all in the same lectures. Faces will be extremely familiar and you'll start instinctively knowing who sits where.

If you're dying to know your timetable here's what it'll probably look like (pharmacy):

Week 1:

Week 2:

Week 3:

I quite liked the first year timetable, with that Thursday and Friday off :P.

That's the 2009 first year first three weeks of semester one - note that every week is different and quite unpredictable. You don't actually get any preferences so that's why they only release it when they have to. Quite annoying for people who work part time on weekdays actually. It grows on you though, no effort needed to sort it all out.

Sidenote, booklists are here if you haven't found them yet.

There are things on those lists you actually shouldn't bother buying ... (for example, the molecular kit).

So we basically get everything that has "required" in brackets after it?
Do we need this-
Mosby's medical, nursing & health profession's dictionary,
(latest edition), Australian and New Zealand edition,
Mosby/Elsevier, Marrickville N.S.W. ?

Sorry for being a noob :(

I wouldn't bother with Mosby's. Never used it for anything. When unsure of medical terms, consult your best friend: Google.

Don't go buying everything just yet. The brackets are a lie.

What you should invest in for sure is the APF (Aus. Pharmaceutical Formulary) since you'll be using it all four years and intern year if it doesn't go out of date. You can only get it from PSA which is a floor above student services on campus. It doesn't matter if you get an older edition during uni.

The AMH (Aus. Medicines Handbook) is also very useful. There's an online version of it, but if you prefer to tab your books like me I'd buy it down the track. It updates every year though, but you don't need to update till intern year (2015 for you guys).

Physiology - you get three picks. Vanders is comprehensive, Silverthorn has good layout and Fox is shit (except for the ear section). You don't have to buy one but this is the 'biology' heavy unit so it'll be good to have extra reference. Of course you can borrow but near exam time everyone wants it.

Organic chemistry - Brown and Poon's intro to Organic Chem is important if your lecturer is shit. Get it second hand. Not worth the usage for a new one. Thankfully the lecturer changed after my year so you might not have to rely on this book so much now. I'd get it if chem isn't your forte.

Physicochem - I have Atkins but never used it. If you get Yuriev which I'm sure you will, her lecture notes are the most comprehensive you'll ever see.

Don't worry much about second sem books yet.

Don't be sorry, good news is you're only a noob once.

@Toothpaste
Why did you say there were Thursdays and Fridays off? I see lectures on both days! Unless I am reading the timetable wrong? :(

I was referring to days with just lectures being "optional". The urge to skip is overwhelming. :P

... and yeah it's a female dominated course.

Sorry for all the questions, but do you think I could get away with no textbooks for the first few weeks of uni? I really have no clue what to purchase :(
