Check the handbook, look into your subjects and read the prescribed texts.

1. Nobody uses that rubbish thing. Check your subjects' handbooks for prescribed texts.

2. You probably won't even need most of the texts. Wait 'til a week or two into classes before you buy any.

Definitely do number 2.  Get your lecturer's opinion before buying.  But for Intro Micro and Macro, it would be a good idea to buy the textbook.  :)

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll just buy the main books, and get the lecturers opinion on any companion books

You'll never need a companion book, lol. The 'main books' are more companion books than anything else.

This.  The main textbooks are all you'll ever need.  And believe me, if you buy any more, you'll not only end up wasting money but you'll be kicking yourself once you find out that you can borrow it from the library if you really, really need it.  ;)

Don't download pirated ebooks, it makes me cry!

Fishpond ships faster since it's Australian based.

Fishpond also have a cancel order feature, if you cancel before they ship it. Has saved me money before!
