Does it matter where we position our tutorials and practical sessions in the week? Should they follow or precede our lectures?

It doesn't matter because you won't have a tutorial in the first week anyway.
I always had my Psych tutes on Monday and all Psych lectures were Tues/Weds/Thurs.
So that was before the lectures and it didn't hinder me at all, I got H1s.

To be honest you could (theoretically, without an attendance hurdle) skip all your tutorials for first year and still get H1s.

Thanks for that, I'm glad a certain order isn't required.
If you don't mind me asking - do you enjoy your Psychology lectures? I'm trying it this year and I'm a little unsure about it having never done psychology before.

I had never done it before and now I'm probably going to major in it! :D
I loved Psychology last year.  I won't be doing it in 2011, because I'm going back to first year to avoid horrible media and communications subjects but I will resume in 2012 providing I actually accept my Science offer and don't revert to Biomed in the next 1 hour and 54 minutes.

I really enjoyed studying it, there is a lot of diversity, I feel, in what you're taught and from what I hear from other students, it's better to not have done psych in VCE because it can be a little repetitive if you've already studied the subject before.
But you should find it awesome if you like Science and you like Arts and you like combining the two.  There's a reason it's offered through both faculties.

Haha, funny how that works, you end up finding something you love to do right out of the blue!
Ohhh, isn't Media and Communications very good?
I am a little anxious to begin psychology because I have it set in my mind that the work will be beyond my capabilities! I didn't do science in VCE but I have enjoyed Chemistry/Biology in the past so hopefully that proves to be a good mix. I'll have to see how I go, I suppose, it's worth a shot :)

Media and Comm is good for some people, but not for me.  I decided I didn't want to be a journalist anymore and although I can study psych from Media, I'd rather not suffer the turmoil and risk entry into the Honours program with bad subjects.
You will be fine, the only real 'science' part of the course is the first unit in MBB1, but even that is explained very well and with very extensive notes and slides from the lecturer.

Is it a bad idea to have 3 lectures in a row?

How quickly do the classes tend to fill up for the first year subjects? Like, is it a matter of minutes, hours, days?

Really? Wouldn't you be brain dead by the 3rd lecture? Or does it not matter?
