Well they say it's year 12 physics. Having never sat the test, I wouldn't know from experience.

Here's the first question I could find in the ACER GAMSAT Practice Questions booklet;

Summer brain zones out after 'Fick'.  Bypassing the wall of text the qs don't look bad.

If you gamsat'd in march then gamsat uk'd in september in second year, then gamsat'd in march third year you would be like, third time lucky.
P sure September would be too late as I believe interviews are like September/October~?

gamsat uk for september 2011 would be awesome though.

i am liking this 'semi exploiting the system' approach with gamsat uk haha.

I am having a crises with this.  I am seriously considering a gap year + repeating the UMAT right now.

The GAMSAT essays look terrifying, and I plain stink at a lot of that section 1 stuff.

You can sit the GAMSAT in the second last and last year of your undergrad degree, which is a benefit.

I don't believe there is a limit to the number of times you can sit the GAMSAT, however I am under the impression that results are only valid for 2 years.

As for what you said last, this is my fear also, which is why I am considering the gap year, so I can remain eligible for Monash.

You will probably need to do honours and other post grad studies to get a decent job with biomed.  Or you can opt for other health related degrees such as optometry, dent, physio etc.

Is it possible to do first year biomed and sit UMAT and then transfer to monash? Perhaps with some credit points?

Or do one more vce subjects and get a 50 so you get the big 99.9
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

I don't think Monash offers non-standard entry. Many other unis do though.

Nah, Monash locks you out once you commence any kind of tertiary study.

If I take the gap year option, then I will probably do a VCE sub or 2 to try and get ATAR up to 99.9+, as well as repeat UMAT.

What do you think taiga?  I am asking everyone lol.

I reckon you should go with the GAMSAT because you want your MD, really.  May as well get it sooner.  I think that if you studied hard over summer (which you would), you would get the marks you want!  Just takes commitment.
I would assume.  Considering I'm like, someone who just dropped out of an Arts degree I'm not the best person to take advice from when it comes to commitment.

Naw that's so sweet that I was your Biol idol and look what happened, you got a 50 too and I bet you did better than I did!

Nobody should be studying for (or in fact worrying about) the GAMSAT now. It is completely unnecessary and will be detrimental to your year/personality. I am of the opinion that if you've studied the base knowledge (and not failed it) then you only need standard exam preparation to do well. The majority of the questions are just testing your ability to apply what you read to the questions, not whether or not you know the amino acid sequence of collagen. Some are very hard, yes, but most aren't.

Yes, you can sit the UK version but it's by no means guaranteed to raise your marks. Some people have done worse after sitting it. It's not the end of the world if your GAMSAT mark isn't stellar, there are various other ways to compensate for it and hell, there are various other professions that you'll also enjoy.

If anyone has any specific GAMSAT questions I don't mind answering them, the essay section and section 1 are my favourites :)

Do you know a good place to find practice essay topics (besides the acer practice books)?
Cheers.

For anyone interested I noticed that on pagingdr there's a thread where you can post your essays and people critique them for you.

First year sciences should be enough to cover the third section so that's counted as studying :P

If you are really keen on preparing early, read widely and keep up with current affairs.

And lastly, it is advisable to do the GAMSAT twice just in case you stuff up. GAMSAT UK is an option worth considering. I did it myself and it saved my life from the semi disaster in March ;D

Yeah I post in there giving feedback (but someone split the thread, it used to be 50 pages long)

As for topics, google 'random famous quotes'

eg)

or

Well I would not advice repeating, but if you were to do it, I think taking a couple vce subjects would help. I think Business Management/Psychology would in essence be the "easiest" 50's without any 1/2 experience whatsoever.
