What do you mean?

If you're talking about vocabulary, complex ideas should NEVER be sacrificed for complex vocabulary. Play by the games of VCE English, and you'll do very well.

Don't worry, as you continue to write you'll get quicker and by the end you'll be writing more in 1 hour than you did in 2-3 if you're anything like me..

Don't worry about time too much now, you've still got a long time to go. If you write enough essays, you'll find the content and ideas will come naturally and you'll just glide across the paper, haha. Also, in exam situations you tend to write faster because of the pressure and the obvious time constraints. When I was doing practice essays before the exam, I usually took about 65-75 minutes per piece. However, I finished all three essays in the exam.
..I don't know why I'm rambling, haha. Just don't worry, it's still early yet. You'll be fine :)

For me, I worked on content first. You're going to need this content and quality before you can commit to improving your speed. I mean, how can you write fast if you have nothing good to write, right? Hahaha :P

Most people I know don't even think about speed until term 3.  I would suggest likewise - it's something that'll just come naturally.  :p

Yeah I agree with all the other comments, focus on speed later.

Although I will mention that you don't need to do the set 1 hour for each piece. I always seemed to be much quicker with context for some reason, I just liked that style and my ideas flowed quickly so in the exam I spent about 50 minutes on it. While with language analysis I was never really as comfortable with so I spent roughly 1 hour and 5 minutes on it in the exam, and I also spent 1 hour and 5 minutes on text response. So you can make up for one section if you find you're a bit slower with it by really acing another section..So don't worry if you find you take a bit longer with language analysis, you can counteract it :)

I think that if you're confident in what you have to write, then the adrenaline and focus of the moment will carry you through.
