confusion about the new model for Engineering

Hello

I will be starting at Bachelor of Science in Melbourne Uni in year 2011, and I am heading to engineering career. However, I am confused by the idea of finishing Bachelor of Science in advance.

With the new model, just wandering is enter into Master of Engineering pathway a guaranteed entry?
If there is no guarantee, then what happens to us who graduate from Science? Will we engineering pathway students receive an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science? Will the companies accept it if it is a science degree?

Sorry of the confusion, and thank you for your time in answering me.
I'm tutoring VCE physics~

for admission into the M.E you need a 65% average in your final two years of your B.Sci.  up until 2015, if you get this 65% average, you will be guaranteed a csp place in the masters programme. the university has said from that point on, at least 50% of places will be csp. *HOWEVER, i would not be suprised if they renegged on that promise.

if you don't meet the 65% average (which should be pretty easy imo-but i did commerce =P), you'll only have B.Sci and unable to work as a fully accredited engineer. alternatively, you could do a different postgrad course @ uom or another university.

The 65% average is only across subjects from your major at 2nd and 3rd year, btw.

does this include commerce students?? seems stupid that they would only take into account my finance and management major to gauge if i am fit for entry into the masters.

Sorry, I meant your engineering major. For example, mine would take into account my scores in FoEN (2nd year electrical), ENAD, EDM, DSD, S&S and ESI (all 3rd year electrical).

hey rustic_metal, i got an email from Jonathan wright that said "Your 65% average will be calculated using all 2nd and 3rd year subjects you have studied, regardless of if they are engineering subjects or not." this is for civil btw. not sure if this means anything.

So what happens if you don't meet the 65% requirement? Is there any other way of pursuing an engineering career?

Well that changes things. To be honest, at this point I wouldn't believe anything they say about what's included. My mate just got into masters and had asked many times to get the response I outlined earlier, but it looks like they've told you something different. They're notorious for not wanting to give out any information about it, too.

Might be best to just focus on marks in this case, rather than analysing it to death like vce. ;)

sigh... my uni mates scared me to death...

they all got 99+ in VCE, yet none of them find it easy to get a 70 in Uni.

Most of them said it nearly takes the effort to kill them in order to get a 70.

PS: they are nearly graduated, and I have been with them since they graduate from secondary College
