Ti-nspire software upgrade?

I use the Ti-nspire CAS calculator at school ever since year10. As a result, i am intimately aware of how to use my calculator to my advantage. I am constantly helping others with their calcs. I am currently using Version 1.3 (out since 2008)... others in my class vary between v1.4-1.7

My spesh teacher, however, wants us to upgrade the software to the newest setting: v2.1. I think that i'm comfortable with my version and i seriously hate the layout of the newer versions - i can't navigate them at all. Having said that, though, the new version may have additional features.

So, the question is:
Do i stick with my trustworthy v1.3, confidant in my calculator knowledge to use to my advantage OR
Do i upgrade to v2.1, unknown, unfamiliar, but possibly equipped with better features?

My spesh teacher says that we all must embrace new changes (and stop being stuck in the past), so we may as well upgrade it now so there's plenty of time for us to be familiar with the software before exams.

What do you think?

I'm not sure and i haven't looked into it that much but from what i've heard on these forums it doesn't add all that much really except a couple shortcuts.

That said if your teacher is going to be giving you instructions using the 2.1 version it might be a bit hard to follow if you have an older version. You'll adapt to the new one eventually.

2.1 is more efficient on your battery in terms of programming, rendering, computation and is much easier to use. The shortcuts are generally the same all over; I've got the new N-spire CAS calculator (slim, black and sexy 8D) 'cause my grey one was stolen, and it's much better. Friends of mine upgraded to 2.x firmware this week and they've all said it's much faster.

I would agree with all of that! 2.1 is much better, although the touch-pad on the new nspire was a disappointment (my brother had to buy one...)

Yeah, it's disappointing when you find out it's not actually a touchpad but just a really sensitive button. Still much better, though.

Seriously, it makes finding points on graphs so much easier and faster! Plus there is a scratchpad for rough working!

It is sexy 8D.
It's also awesome. And has better hardware.
