I have been wondering whether to get a tutor for a while now, as well as the way to do this, cost, and pros/cons.

I am a good student who understands concepts, and am slightly weaker in Math than Sciences, I am very good at English but do not enjoy writing essays. I am in year 11 and have never had a tutor.

Where do I find a tutor?
What are the pros/cons of a student/teacher/TSFX etc. tutor?
For Math is a class (like Dr. He) more useful?

Answers and more information would be much appreciated

I would only get a tutor of you really need one, thats the way I work. I got one for English (about 3 weeks ago) because I sucked at English (and arguably still do) and felt I really needed a bit of help.

I am totally against the people who just blindly get a tutor for everything possible (ie. at least 60% of MHS), because they never learn how to learn without getting spoon-fed answers to homework and SACs, and there is no spoon-feeding in a VCAA exam.

You probably don't need one then. A good student at MHS *generally* means a 97+ ATAR if things continue in a similar fashion.

If you already think you are good at English, then its not an issue. If you are only 'slightly' weaker in Maths and Science (your weak is aiming for 'only' 45-48+ in those areas anyway...), then really don't bother.

I like revision lectures as they help to refresh memories, or even sometimes teach you new ways of looking at concepts.

"good" at mhs is 98+ unfortunately

a bit higher than good is 99+

and smart is like 99.5 :P

That said, I haven't much to contribute to this thread. Most non student tutors get around through word of mouth.
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.
