i honestly dont think i dropped a mark!!

nooobs
that's wrong, "infraredismybitch"
it is 5-chloro-2-methylheptane
or the less correct version
2-methyl-5-chloroheptane

What was the specific wording of the question again? I seem to remember that it asks for "a/the systematic name" for the molecule, not the correct IUPAC nomenclature. If you go strictly by IUPAC, then ethylamine would not be accepted as a correct name and heaps of people wouldn't get the mark for that question.
But I think they'll be lenient about it, past exams have accepted ethylamine ...so...?
ctrl-c ctrl-v ftw
edit: yeah seems a bit misleading, I'm actually asking about the acceptable naming for the second molecule, i.e. the tricky heptane, not the first one. Quite sure ethylamine is acceptable, but not so confident about strictness on '5-chloro-2-methylheptane' or variants.
