Sometimes it's impossible to take "excellent" care of your books - the need to lug them home in overstuffed bags, the unexpected liquid spillage (happens all the time), or the accidental bending of the the pages can really batter those books.
I always try to contact my book if i can; if not, it usually creases faster for me - the corners of textbooks start peeling, etc.
Here's how to contact your books without the bubbles:
1. Cut contact paper to 2-3cm wider than the opened book on each side. Make the edges into 'tabs' by cutting the corners. Cut a V shape roughly where the spine lays, so that the tabs would be easier to fold down.

2. Stick down side A to the inside of your book. Make sure that it is straight, or else it will affect the rest of the contacting! And DON't stick down the top edges yet.
3. Flip the book around, so that the Clear sticky contact is on top, and the paper backing on the bottom.
4. Grab a ruler that is as long as your book (As long as side A). Here's the tricky part: place the ruler where the contact and paper peel apart; One hand guiding the ruler (STRAIGHT), and the other hand slowly pulling the paper backing away, the ruler should slide across the book cover whilst the paper peels off. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS SLOWLY AND STRAIGHT! Use ruler to 'stroke' the air bubbles out of the cover from the top/bottom.
5. Once you get to the spine, turn the book and repeat.
6. Once to the very end, stroke out any bubbles befoer sticking the tabs down.
This is a sure-fire way to never get bubbles or creases in the contact, so long as you start off straight, use the ruler to guide you, and go slowly~
Alternatively, you can start off with the spine, and slide contact towards the tabs:
