i think its still in the process of getting approved... i think it cannot be fully approved until the first batch of 4th years successfully graduates or something.

what the f... that is so bs..
well I think RMIT is being very irresponsible for opening up a new course but not ensuring that their students' paths after uni are 'safe'

Um, I don't think you understand. It's not that they didn't get it accredited, you aren't allowed to get all your yeaars accredited if nobody has even been through all four years of the course.
They have to have a first cohort go through the years syllabus, then have it accredited, then teh 2nd year accredited only when teh 2nd years are done. RMIT is doing the normal thing by the government rules, it will get accredited its just the process works like that. Just like you don't get paid until you actually work. Is your employer irresponsible for not paying you before you even lift a finger?

Also its not that long anyways, considering they had an intake of 2nd years (transferred in) last year. so it means there are only 2 years to go before it is fully accredited as this years 2nd years will be going to 3rd etc..

i recommend getting a part time job at a pharmacy during the holidays as in after your vce exams. it really does open your eyes. i worked in one for a whole year and it wasnt a great experience for me, i didnt see myself doing pharmacy for the rest of my life. so yea try to get a job in december at one, so if you change your mind you can change ur preferences.

Pharmaceutical science seems fine and you can probably make a bit more money than the average scientist considering the revenue these companies make and you get to make a difference as well. Nice little packaged. (I'm pretty biased ill probably be majoring in pharmacology).

I see. But surely, I won't be working at a pharmacy for my entire life. At the end of the day, I would like to run my own business or get my ass into some pharmaceutical company. If I was to work at a pharmacy all day, everyday for my entire life, it's definitely not a lifestyle I want.

I think you might have found it quite boring because, as far as I know, the work you do as a shop boy/girl is different to pharmacy kids from uni. I heard that they get taught how to dispose etc etc which sound better than making burgers at McDonald's or something

ummm. i do dispense and ive done basically all the duties that a pharmacist does (i still work at a pharmacy)..... i learnt all the ropes to it... it takes 3 months to become decent at it... Good luck owning a pharmacy... its basically impossible now unless you have $10million lying around. or buy one rurally. Pharmaceutical companies are good but a lot of competition. Im not saying dont do it, just saying have a solid plan on what you want to do, experience workin in a pharmacy by getting a part time job you will need this experience anyways and if you want to get into a pharmaceutical company find a specific role/field u want to get into, do some research get some contacts on how to get in coz those positions are usually given by word of mouth.

i have a doomed future...

haha well the downhill of pharmacy has already started like 2 years ago its going to get worse for like another 10 years (predicted from other pharmacists) but it should get better over time... like prescribing rights/immunisation rights being introduced in the future will definately improve pharmacy welfare... so by the time you graduate probably be a crappy time to be a grad pharmacist but afterwards when you get older you should be able to get a decent paying job. But if you really like pharmacy for all the right reasons and not money you will get far in the profession. o yea if you want to work at a pharmaceutical industry they look at research projects you have under taken and your scores really do count in this. anyways good luck =)
