Orientation is how I made friends at uni. I went to both orientation days for science and engineering and one extra orientation day for engineering, and all three times I knew no one, but all three times I managed to make new friends. Definitely worth going to

Yeah i reckon it's a really good idea, especially if you don't know anyone at the uni at all (like me) or doing your course.

I figure during orientation a lot of people will not also know anyone so it'll be a lot easier to make mates where as if you wait untill a couple weeks in to start trying making friends people would already have their groups and cliques and stuff.

Yeah I'm going. I don't really have any friends in my faculty so that could be awkward. But I'm hoping to bump into the many people I know actually going to Momash.

So my general plan is to go by myself and make the most of that opportunity and talk to as many people as possible. And try to find some friends!! Haha

Same, i used to think i was the only one but looking around a lot of people seemed to be in the situation.

Nows really the best time to hit up conversation before people start forming groups and things.

Leena i reckon plenty of people will go.

Maybe we should have some kind of VN meetup haha

^ Maybe even make a VN club :P

Orientation I think is worth going, as much as I'm nervous for it and don't want it coming, I know it would be perhaps, the best chance to meet people and start of positive life in uni.
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Uni is totally not awkward... you can just go up to any random babe and strike a conversation. Most likely, you'll be having lunch/dinner with her that day/night.
