Overhauling karma. Replacing with custom made 'Community Respect'

The number of posts that will get 5 "likes" will be very, very small I think, especially if they are meant to be based on more 'legitimate' reasons..

I think it will be hard for decent posts to get 5 likes unless its a post of a resource which helps heaps of people, it just seems posts that are funny will get 5 likes more easily.

Like in most instances help is more one on one, someone posts a thread, someone comes in and answers. The original poster would give karma to the person who answered it. It's one like.

I reckon this is just essentially the karma system rehashed again.

Lowering the numbers might help a bit but then its just karma over again?

But the scarcity will give it a lot more meaning. And it won't just be for posts. Posts will be minor things. You'll get heaps more points for posting notes that get rated well. And then there will be other things that will be added that I can't reveal yet because they're just idea babies

Also I'm taking on board Russ's 1/n suggestion for the moment. We'll play it by ear and I'll ensure that I continually tweak the numbers until the community respect score -actually- means something.
