Has anyone here ever tried the taekwondo at melb uni, or have heard anything about it?

If so care to share your experiences?

According to the Melb uni website they are ranked number one out of all the universities in Australia, i guess thats gotta count for something.

Anyone planning on trying it out?

We didnt have full contact sparring but our guy was 8th dan bloody scarey for an old guy.

Sparring was actually a bit akward non contact but i quit ages agoooo

Yeah i'm not much for sparring either except competitions haha even though i did it ages ago still got the trophies and stuff they gave out. They were pretty awesome fun.

Maybe you should try one of the other martial arts they offer at melbourne?

Don't know what they have

I think you misread what i said,

I only want to do sparring and not any of the traditional stuff like patterns, one/two/three step sparring, even self defence and kicking on the spot etc.

Oh ok, thats why you should do WTF (=. But even then it really depends on the club and instructors you have (which is why i want to know what this club is like, but i guess ill have to give it a shot to find out).

I used to train  under instructors who focused alot on competing and sparring, so basically we got to do heaps of sparring and practice sparring style kicks and movements etc.

Does UoM have BJJ or Wrestling?
Never really liked TKD, not effective enough IRL :\

No martial art is that useful IRL. Might as well do one you enjoy.
