This is a great idea.

Any chance you could do something similar in NSW?  If you can get some more users there, then things will be looking very good.

Make sure to show off our threads on guides/sample essays etc.  Just don't let any of those religion ones slip in though haha.

If I think of anything good i'll post it.  :)

Perhaps take a laptop and hook it up to IRC so that they can see a live stream of the chat (and get people to stage an actual conversation there lol)

Maybe do a tech demo of the website if you have the facilities

Planning to bring a laptop. IRC is not the best idea given the lack of standards compared to that on the forum.

I'll definitely be demonstrating the ease of the notes system and the forum etc.

Print out the best notes, and when they want to take it just be like, NAHHHH have to join.

Maybe you could also consider putting up pictures of some of the VN events that happen, like the English Oral one, and if it's up by then, the Monash Uni Maths help, or the Melbourne University meets.

Rather than showing people on a laptop what this forum's about, why don't we just bring it to them first-hand at the expo? I wouldn't mind being there in person just to answer questions, provide study advice etc. I'm sure some other of the senior members wouldn't either, so perhaps we could just take shifts or something and put the timetable up for students to see.

Not a bad idea, but you really need to show the website in action too.

For an active community, not really. Just the splash page for ATARnotes.com would be fine. Having members who are known around the boards is actually a really good idea.
