Rather than showing people on a laptop what this forum's about, why don't we just bring it to them first-hand at the expo? I wouldn't mind being there in person just to answer questions, provide study advice etc. I'm sure some other of the senior members wouldn't either, so perhaps we could just take shifts or something and put the timetable up for students to see.

Not a bad idea, but you really need to show the website in action too.

For an active community, not really. Just the splash page for ATARnotes.com would be fine. Having members who are known around the boards is actually a really good idea.

Nah, it's a fair point. I think everyone just needs their own role. enwiabe can focus on talking about the website itself and his Methods stuff while the rest of us do whatever else. Perhaps even have a laptop there where people can sign up, and when they do, that's when they get their ATARnotes pen/pencil/whatever? The hardest part with using a service like this is usually the signing up process. Whenever I come across a new forum, that's the biggest barrier for me at least. Typing out a registration form is so tedious :P

This.  Getting some mods to back you up on this is something you could consider.

Or, you could try get some well-known members who aren't mods from this forum and as a thank you gift, a copy of your new book?

you can get people to write down personal statements of their experience of ATARnotes... from all sorts of generations

i rkn what you have accomplished enwiabe is very good, a lot of people have benefitted from this website including myself and im glad to see success  coming your way in terms of evolving this website and making it more known to students. You have our support!

I also recommend you opening a stall for the expo in sydney for the HSC to get more exposure for the sections of ATARnotes.

I also support this notion.

This is another good idea. Just getting a few members to comment on how it's influenced there study/life etc. Obviously, all positive things

FREEBIES. Always.

How about an example study session? Students can come and ask questions; and people can contribute answers. Like a live version of what we do on the forums.

Don't think there's really the space for that in something like an expo. It's pretty damn loud in there too. But yes, agree with the freebies. I think showing off the essay writing initiative is a good example of what goes on in here though.

When is this Expo, exactly? I've been meaning to tidy up that subforum, so I'll try and set myself the deadline of a couple weeks before the expo :)

Pacers & pens sound like an absolutely awesome idea haha!

If its pacers, I think the Asian population will be hooked immediately!

(just from observations at MHS, Asians always use pacers rather than pens)

One thing you can try to market in your pamphlet/brochure is that we are a great resource to people who feel they go to underprivileged schools that are crappy but not crappy enough to actually be deemed underprivileged. Like "Do you go to a school where you feel teachers aren't giving you an expanded understanding of the course?" "Feel like your school is narrow-minded and uninformed?" Since for me, VCEnotes showed me the real level of vce standard in the state outside of my own.

Let's make a pledge to have an "ATARNotes Achievement Prize" given to one member who has done some awesome stuff (not necessarily the smartest), and have that as a seller. I think that idea might be somewhere in the game plan for AN anyway :)

There's already the Most Valuable Poster prize.

EDIT: By the sounds of the name though, were you hinting at one for only year 12s? i.e. Given to a member who beat expectations/struggled through hardship/had lots of community contribution etc. I think it'd be a good idea to have a prize allocated just for year 12s actually.

Yeah it's been suggested before, I think Enwiabe is relatively keen on it, it's just getting the money from somewhere :P
