Has anyone here done the ASU or know what it's like? Is it worth doing?

What sort of help are you seeking from ASU?

Or are you going to one of their seminars during Orientation?

It all seems a bit basic. If you need to check up on how to reference something or get a couple of quick tips, you can just use their website (http://www.services.unimelb.edu.au/asu/flyers-skill.html) rather than attending long workshops.

ASU is probably really good for international students but I have never got anything of value out of them. Sometimes I get a lecture off, because the lecturer arranges for the ASU to come and give a "skills" seminar, which is completely useless.

They'll just tell you "how to study" - read everything, make regular notes blah blah blah

Never gone to an ASU workshop.  We used to get some specially prepared for us for our major pieces in Media Comm cores but the slides always went up on the internet and it was never worth attending because of that.
