Hi guys I have my enzyme write up next week. I would really like to get a high study score in Biol as it is my favourite subject... please help me with this SAC. If you remember any questions on this SAC in your prevous years of Biol please let me know. Any help would be appreciated (e.g. was it hard, type of questions etc).

Erm cant really remeber because i did it last year... But i think they would ask stuff aobut how enzyme functionality e.g. what happens when it's boiled and when it's not. Sorry i cant really remember, im sure others would have/will be doing this sac so they may be able to help out.

Guys I have question in the enzyme experiment with hydrogen peroxide and enzymes; with the boiled liver cube soaked in Hydorgen peroxide, there shoudn't be a reaction occuring, right?

Yep, no reaction with boiled liver (ie no bubbles (=hydrogen gas) being produced)

then can anyone please explain why oxygen was present when i did the glowing splint test on that test tube- i was going to say maybe not all the enzymes were denatured that is, the liver cube wasn't boiled completely; would that be a valid statement?

why no gas from boiled liver? (does the liver have the catalase)

From memory, the temperature denatured it

Yep, the heat denatured the enzymes.

Think back to Plasma Membrane SAC - the stuff we did in regards to pH and temperature denaturing proteins in the phospholipid applies to enzymes.
