Dissecting microscopes

Hey,
I'm having troubles with which light to use. The incident or transmitted light? which one would give a clearer view of the specimen? I did a prac recently and the transmitted light seems better because it was brighter, whereas the incident light gave a darker and blurrier image. I researched and it says that the transmitted light is better to use when viewing ?

Thanks
