What happens if...

You were stabbed a few days prior to one of your mid-year exams, but you were made to go to your exam and during the exam you started seeing double vision and had difficulty breathing (punctured left lung) and had to leave the exam, and then couldn't do the GAT because of this either.

What do VCAA do???

Could "you" remember any of the content of the exam?

What do you mean remember any of the content of the exam? Like could he have gone home and studied (there-by making the option of letting him sit the same exam now an unfair option?)

I don't think they can do that anyway can they?

why would you go to an exam days after being stabbed in the chest? That's pretty hardcore, haha

I imagine thye just use the normal methods of special consideration

Well, it can only help his case if he can get a doctor to assert that he couldn't remember any of the exam or was incapacitated from studying in the meantime

however, VCAA are sometimes pretty rough with students in situations like this, in order to prevent people faking it  [not saying I neccesarily agree with them.] Your friend [and his family] can only try

But with special consideration, what can they use to try and give you a mark for that exam/ SS if you didn't sit the GAT? Just indicative grades by teachers?

The school apparently 'made' him go to the exam.

I'm sure they don't need too much evidence that a person who was stabbed a cm away from their heart a few days before their exam, requiring an ambulance and having the cops section off the area (neighbouring streets) was incapacitated by the event. lol

I assume there's be special consideration, though without the GAT, I'm not sure how they'd do the calculations. Maybe based on SAC rankings & how others in your class went on the exam? If ranked high in your class, you might even be able to nab someone else's exam scores...

The VCAA simply don't do resits

They'll have some method of sorting this out. For midyears, they might use the end of year as a comparison maybe

Also like to add how fucked my school is where the guy is in alfred hospital from friday till tuesday (taken from dandy as was the seriousness of the situation) and he gets a call from the school saying he has to come to his exam.

His school is retarded, no compassion shown there at all.

I would be very suprised if the VCAA doesn't help him out. But hopefully he actually get some support from his school

That is beyond insane.

I'm sure the appropriate action will be taken to ensure that the person isn't too disadvantaged by the school's blatantly shocking decision.

That's outrageous.  >:(

When you think about it, all it is is a one and a half hour exam. After a traumatic experience like that an exam is inconsequential.

I am sure VCAA will have compassionate grounds for a case like this.

He doesn't even care about school anymore after that. He doesn't see the priority of schooling after nearly losing his life.

I wrote a large criticism of my school on the internet a few weeks ago. I wonder if they'll ever find it and try and use it against me. Don't know how they would though, its all true.

Yeah, I would imagine that after enduring such an experience you'd definitely begin to see life from a different perspective.
