Hi guys, I have another question.

It's quite simple, I just don't understand how my textbook got  :-\

This was my first step, assuming that one of the steps is wrong:

As you can see.. I just multiplied by the complex conjugate of 3+i but it's wrong. I'm assuming you can't make a conjugate of a conjugate or something.. (if that makes sense)? derpderpderderp. need moar sleep

Thankssssss.

Your first step is correct:
1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

Simplifying the fraction to get:
7.

Hope I helped.

P.S. The conjugate of the conjugate should just be the original z values. Haha.

Another quick question.

I get confused when finding the angle when putting stuff into polar form. 0.o

I can get the value of r, but I don't understand how to find the angle.. D:
My book isn't really good with its explanations.

All I can do right now is this:

Assuming that is the right method...
Thanks.

Use arctan(im part/re part) and adjust the angle according to the quadrant it is in. Remember to check that the angle you have is the principal argument though (-pi,pi]

This is another question that relates to the one I just posted.

The question is:

Am I supposed to be able to graph this stuff in my head?

well for most complex graphs you're suppose to know the general shape etc

but for , its just a dot with 1/4 as its real component and root3 on 4 as its imaginary component

ohh... I just approximate the it, or alternatively imagine a line with the angle matching the dot and put the dot on the line where the real component is 1/4
