If you want to do medicine you need to do three subjects in 2nd year (biochemistry, anatomy, physiology) and they require the bio/chem in 1st year.

If you want to do engineering you (generally, don't know the specifics) you need to do a year of 1st year maths + a year of 1st year subjects related to the field (chemical engineering = year of chemistry etc.)

I can answer questions on med entry easily, someone else will have to help you for engineering

Yeah, I actually think I might do that BBiomedSc/BE double degree @ Monash instead.
That way I'll have the option of doing Medicine or Engineering post-grad courses by the end of it.

But then again, I live in the west and Clayton's all the way in the east.
Is it gonna be hard (with all the travelling)?

that is, essentially, up to you to decide for
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

This factor deterred me from Monash. I live in the west as well, and getting to Melbourne uni is rather easy, but I still hate the travelling. Monash would be unbearable...

But are you still satisfied with the course you're doing at UoM? Do you feel that your course at Melbourne would still end up getting you to the same place (when it's all said and done)?

Going to Melboure uni would be a luxury compared to Monash in terms of travelling..

I am more than satisfied. I think it was the best possible choice for me. If anything it will get me further than at monash when it's all said and done because i'll have my masters in 5 years.. rather than wasting 5 years on a double degree..

Science is a really good course because you can still get into the graduate courses that biomed leads to however you have so many more options if you decide to change your mind.

And travelling to monash is a huge factor. If you have a 9am lecture/tute.. you'd probably be waking up at close to 6am to allow time to get ready and travel for ~2 hrs. I personally couldn't handle that lifestyle.. travelling approximately 4 hours per day.

But you have to decide for yourself. Good luck lol

You mentioned that you were getting your Masters after 5 or so years, but isn't the application process for getting into a Masters course really difficult?

Like how would you get into a Master of Engineering course?

Get 65+% average across your 2nd and 3rd year subjects (plus you have to do certain subjects relevant to the specialization you want)

Yes I live in the West and travelling certainly is a pain, from my knowledge of other westsiders, i can speak on most of their behalf and say that travelling is probably the biggest issue getting to monash.

The choice is up to you, i personally dont regret picking monash over uom since it provides me with the courses that i want to do and many other factors, however the downside is that i can't go to uni often.
