Hey guys,
I was wondering if it's better to memorize vocab using programs or just by "Look Cover Write Check" method?

In my personal experience, the 'look-cover-write-check' method only really works for short-term memory. If you want to really learn it, and for a long time, try writing a sentence a day with that word as the central focus. Or, if you're feeling really dedicated, write several essays over a week to knock off many new words at once. ^^

I've been reviewing vocab every few days for the last week so i'll see how it goes. When you say write a essay, could it be a diary entry or letter? I wouldnt mind doing that perhaps once a week.

Love the look cover write check method! But by god, stick to revising! Dnt just forget about it after two weeks of constant revision. If you slip up and then the vocab fades from ur long term memory....ur screwed :P
speaking from experience!

oh ps, i think anki is a pretty good way to go in terms of vocab revising...but again...consistency! can't stress that enough!

Have you tried "Anki"? http://ankisrs.net/ You could put it on your phone and review it everyday on the bus or car...

But for me, i think i really need to start using them in general essays.

I plan to write a diary entry every few days in Jap.

Diary entry, letter, essay etc. whatever you like as long as you use it in a coherent sentence. :) That said, I've been slacking so much in my Japanese studies for the last term. I've literally done no work at home for it. :/ I need to really pick it up from term 2 and onwards. D:

Hey guys,
I was wondering which method would be best for memorizing it:
1. Using ANKI.
2. Look Cover Write Check.
3. Handwritten flashcards (Kanji on one side, english meaning on the other side).
Thanks!

I've got flash cards, but i suggest that you try each method and see which works best for you.

Anki's a program for flash cards - apparently good for reviewing concepts, IF you can be bothered.

Yeah i reckon its better to just actively use the  vocab you wanna learn.
I personally write out the kanji like 30 times and usually i can remember it

STICK UP REVISION SHEETS IN THE SHOWER. That way I always make sure I dedicate time to study kanji when I'm shampooing my hair :)
