ATAR isn't used as part of the calculations. Uses individual study scores without scaling.

Are you SURE about that? Is that published anywhere, or just assumed? I got one, and whilst my scores were good enough got 99.95, my raws weren't brilliant among top performers. I know that schools have to nominate students, so perhaps they consider ATAR/outstanding achievement in certain subjects. Olympiad also matters (I know for a fact that medallists automatically receive the prize).

In Victoria, the Australian Student Prize score is calculated by the addition of the Study Scores obtained in the past two years for the best four studies plus ten percent of Study Scores obtained in up to a maximum of two other VCE studies. Yup, that's what it says on the VCAA website. Hmm, interesting... I wouldn't have thought my raws were strong enough, but oh well.

Yeah I wouldn't think the Australian Student Prize would go on ATAR, my score wouldn't be in the top 500 in the state and I got one. Very nice surprise.

I got one too - I reckon if you get 2+ 50s, or three high 40s scores, you're probably in.
