I feel the same just reading through my Anatomy and Physiology textbook. But then we only have another 100000 things to remember for 12 weeks a semester.

Heh, first years. The secret is to appreciate what will and won't be assessed on the exam

I'll be happy to pass this year to be honest. I'm 1st year doing Podiatry at Latrobe and I know **** all to be honest haha. I didn't do chem or Bio so right from the start I just fell behind in HBA... I'm sure you'll do fine as you have the work ethic... I just don't have any motivaton whatsoever to do work. For example for the annotated bibliography and PHW essay I just did them the night before and on the morning it was due... You shouldn't be worrying cause you seem to be on top of things better than 99% of people I've talked to/met haha, so keep up the good work.

First year of any Health Sciences at La Trobe seems massively boring. Once you get passed that year and start doing some relevant stuff it gets better - know quite a few doing Podiatry at La Trobe. All the best :)

Get a copy of last year's exam. Lots of questions on uni papers are just last year's with slight changes. You certainly don't have to remember everything like in VCE.

You'll receive at least 1 past paper because most universities require lecturers to provide an example of the assessment.

And your university will lodge past exams for subjects that give permission; find out if they're accessible online and look for subjects similar to yours

I've looked for them but for the oral health subjects, so far nothing yielding. Hopefully in class he will give us some parts of the old exam though or I can ask older students :)

Update:
I have figured I am a question-type learner. I learn better by doing heaps of questions over and over to help me understand concepts. Only by getting things right and wrong can I really absorb subjects. Too bad for my course, a lot of it is learn on your own with no questions or aid. The biology part comes with questions, but I could have found that on the net... the dental part...not so. I think that is maybe the source of my problem in terms of studying issues :)

Email your lecturer for past papers. That type of approach generally doesn't work in university, since they'll usually give you the same scenarios, rather than just similar types of ones like you'd get in VCE. The positive side is that if you can do all the problems in the lectures and on the sample paper (you only need one sample paper, so 4 years is plenty of time), you're pretty much set.

Yeah I find that I'm sort of like that too.

One thing that I discovered (this year, actually - can teach an old dog new tricks) that really helped was to turn the learning objectives from the lectures into questions and then trying to answer them.

I always do this. Ever since year 11..works well
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I kind of have that problem, except that I struggle with subjects when we have to rely on lectures rather than text books. I learn really well out of textbooks but when the information is presented in other ways I tend to struggle.
