this should be posted under technology and gaming
perhaps try this

also there are a number of forums that you can post that help you elimate malware or fake antivirus including http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/

maybe hitmanpro would detect something as well

+1, would recommend this site. Get RKill from their link asap and then follow the prompts. Worked for me with a similar fake-antivirus.

Try Start > run > type msconfig

Click services > Hide all microsoft services, then disable all.

Then startup> disable all

Should stop it from being a rascal on start up, then just run a real virus scanner and you should be fine.

I actually keep all that stuff disabled just so my computer runs fsater :P

Avira Antivir has the highest detection rates for viruses, they have tested it independantly.

Google it and check it out.

apparently free comodo internet security is very good (especially the firewall), also if you want free maybe avast or microsoft security essentials.
i got sick of fiddling around with the antivirus and firewall popups and malware getting through, so i just decided to buy a paid internet security suite, kaspersky (even though its not 100% detection duh i just feel theres more support and the layout is simple). Although apparently norton 2011 is very good and light on resources.

If I were you, I would reformat because malware etc can mess up system files that even a removal of the malware wouldn't fix.

Then once you've reformatted, install a good antivirus/internet security suite.

Free - Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira AntiVir, Avast Home Edition are all good.

Personally I run the paid versions of Kaspersky Internet Security and Malwarebytes Anti Malware because when you internet bank and use PayPal etc, you can't leave anything up to chance.

If you can't reformat, try some of the things others have suggested, should fix the majority of the problem.

Hope this helps.
