I'm talking about the addictive games, i.e Maplestory ;)
Do/Did you play during VCE? If so, how do/did you manage it?

(3-7)hrs of dota on weekdays, 6-10 on weekends =D(up until swotvac)

going to a bad school sort of help though cause you can get ranked highly in sac's without much effort, then just cram towards year-end lolol. Thats what i did anyway :P could've done much better but meh  ;D

I clocked up about 200 games of Starcraft 2, and beat the campaign back in year 12.  Also beat two Super Robot Taisen games.

i did around 10-11 hours of dota a day back in year 10, but gave up for VCE starting from year 11, wasn't worth picking WCG over VCE :P

It can be done. Should it be done? Well that's a whole different question.

I personally just tried to get it out of my system during the holidays. If you're going to game, something more casual is probably better. I find DotA especially difficult to just give up and step away from. If you lose a match, or especially have a leaver in your game, it's almost impossible to step away until you fit a good game in - which invariably takes up to another hour or more to do.

I play League of Legends, which I said before... I usually limit myself to a game a night, right after everything has been done. It works well. I also play elite-level Ragnarok Online in a top-tier guild, and that's harder to step away from than anything else...
It can be done. Should it be done? Well that's a whole different question.

Why did I downvote your post? Because, simply based on the secondary use of the word "can" as a verb makes it into a synonym for "may"; that is, you've basically asked the question he asked. Which is no help. Semantics, semantics...

Anyway, as for whether or not it is wise, it probably isn't worth sacrificing study or anything for games. But, it's impossible to cut out something you enjoy fully without finding detrimental effects in other areas of your life.

I played Ragnarok Online when I was 8 years old, and stopped recently last year, cause I grew out of it. Its the best game, ever.
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle
