The Age VCE and careers expo.

Is anyone else going??

A few questions for those who have been or have any knowledge of how things are run:
-Do we get notes from the lectures? :P
-I noticed that a few of the seminars say 'Resources for courses', what does that exactly mean?
-Are the company lectures like tsfx etc held like a normal revision lecture or will these mainly be rundowns of the course and an advice/question session?

Cheers :)

You'll only get notes in some of the lectures. If I remember correctly, any seminars sun by Neap are worth attending. They gave out a a pile of free notes to everyone. Got to get there early though because it is so popular.
Also, get to the VCAA stall ASAP to grab the free past exams. Might save you from killing a few trees.
The lectures don't go for very long, so they won't be going through the entire course. Mostly, they'll highlighting some key concepts and give tips on preparation.

Thanks sam!
A couple more questions:
-How many people do they let in for these seminars?
-Would tsfx/neap etc have their own stalls?

Oh and are VN/AN still giving out free pacers and stuff?? :P

I went last year, and I'm planning to go this year again. I raided stalls to stock up on pens, pacers, rulers etc. :P For the seminars, they let people in til it's full to capacity. I think TSFX and NEAP did have their own stalls from memory.

I might go to this one as well, although I've never been to one of these before .. How many of these 'VCE & careers' expo are there, when are they held and which ones are worth going to? AFAIK, there's the herald sun and the age.

I thought there was only the one? The Age is the biggest one I believe

You'd get better advice in the forums by those who got High ATARs, than those lectures. Been to one as a free trial or something. If there's one thing I learnt, I learnt that my short term memory was terrible.
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

do u have to book for seminars? do they run the same for all 3 days or are there different seminars each day?

I didn't book any seminars when I went last year; just turn up on the day and find a seat. Yeh, in some cases I think certain seminars are repeated throughout the 3 days if they're really popular. Depends really. In other instances, there are different seminars on each day. For more information, click on the link swarley provided and there's a PDF file under "Seminar program" detailing all the different seminars on offer.

The Herald Sun decided to copy The Age and make its own version of the same thing. The one run by The Age is much bigger, and of course, better. This is basically the only good careers expo for VCE students all year.
Worth attending.
