Psych Practice Exam 2011 - Is on its way!!

My practice exam will be available very shortly (in less than 2 weeks!!), please email me at [email protected] if you're interested in getting a copy of it! :D For now I'm creating a list of emails of the people who are interested, so just send me an email saying you're interested in the psych paper and I'll put you on the list so I don't forget to contact you later! (If you wanna PM me instead that's fine but please include your email in the PM otherwise I might forget to contact you again when I'm distributing them) I also wanna know how many to print off and get an idea for the demand at this stage.

The price I'm setting it at is 8 dollars if you pick it up from me, and 10 dollars if you can't pick it up and I need to post it to you. You won't need a credit card or anything fancy to pay, payment will be very simple (cash in hand or bank deposit). This is a really small price to pay when you consider the potential benefits to you and your score, you never know which question might be identical to the real exam. So don't miss out on this extra "edge" on the competition that very few others in the state will have ;) You can meet me at melb uni on a weekday, or at the state library or melb central station. (you can also tell me in the email which delivery option you'd prefer). I'll be arranging at least 2 exchange days for people to pick the paper up from me. I'm only giving them out in hardcopy.

At this moment I'm not sure if I'll be able to write detailed solutions for the entire paper by the cut off date so I might send that out (electronically) at a later date which should be alright anyway because you can get your teachers to mark it for you until then :) So yeah, just don't be shy to email me! Due to uni exams, I won't be selling them in June because I'll be too busy so please contact me asap so you don't miss out. Thanks guys.

Due to uni I only managed to make one. What do you mean all three sections "jumbled up"? :P It's got section A, B and C just like the VCAA exam and will be the same amount of marks. They're in a random order just like VCAA 2011 exam will be..

Yeah, the questions will all be jumbled! :) It's basically trying to be a replica of the actual 2011 exam, so I've tried to make as many things as possible identical to the info I've been given (e.g. how many marks will be allocated to each section and so on).

There'll definitely be solutions, they'll just be delayed :P I'm gonna have MC answers definitely, but SA and ER might have to be marked by teachers considering my uni exams are in early June and I need to start preparing for them now.. You all have my email address anyway so if you're really really unsure about the answer to a specific question on my exam you could possibly email me :)

I've been getting a couple of emails with similar questions from students so I thought I'd post them here incase you were wondering the same thing:

Is your practice exam just a bunch of questions taken from other sources like VCAA or commercial companies like TSFX, NEAP, etc?
No, certainly not. This would be breaching copyright laws. All of my questions I've made on my own, using my own ideas and knowledge to test your understanding of the topics.

Is your exam going to be really hard (like neap) or really easy (like tssm)?
I'm not really sure whether you'll find it difficult or not at this stage, it'll vary obviously according to how well prepared you are. It's going to be a "fair" paper, so there'll be easy parts and hard parts which will require you to really think carefully or apply your knowledge to an unfamiliar scenario. I've tried to make it as close as possible to a VCAA paper, instead of just putting copious amounts of very difficult and not often tested topics. I think this will be of greater benefit to you rather than scaring you with unimportant content before your exam.

Can you mark the exam once I've finished it?
Unfortunately no because I have uni exams to study for and won't have the time. I will provide MC answers via email as soon as you've gotten the paper but short answer and E.R will have to be marked by your teacher. I can send out sample short answer + E.R. responses on Saturday the 11th of June (that's when my uni exams finish). I know it's cutting it very fine with the exam date (wed the 15th) but I recommend doing my exam close to the exam date anyway and my suggested responses should only further develop your understanding from what your teacher marked.

When should I do your exam?
I'd recommend doing it as close as possible to the actual exam date because it'll be one of the best representations of what the actual exam will be like (or so I'd like to hope! :P) and you don't wanna waste it by doing it before you've properly revised the course. I'd say roughly 10 days before the actual exam would be best for you. It also gives you enough time to go over the material you didn't do so well on in the exam.

If you have any other queries don't hesitate to contact me :) I'll begin emailing further instructions to those who've contacted me so far very shortly!

how do you know that what you made is similar to the exam?
Well quite frankly, I don't know if it's gonna be identical, obviously that's impossible. But I've followed the study design very carefully, I've analysed past papers to see what topics will most likely come up this year and in what format (i.e. will a certain topic be in short answer or in multiple choice), I've also matched where the marks are allocated for your actual exam (in this case, 31 in short answer and 15 ER, then 45 in mc) in my practice paper. So basically, I've done everything I can to make sure it's the best representation of what your actual exam will be like.

Even if the questions don't match exactly, my paper still tests your understanding in a variety of ways. So it's gonna be great practice no matter what. Choosing to not do my paper is really missing out on the opportunity to hone in your skills. Practice exams are one of the best ways to get a high score, ask any top scorer and they'll tell you that.

If you want me to post it, payment will be via bank deposit. This is a very simple thing to do, in fact I think a 5 year old kid could probably do it :P I will be sending out further instructions next week once I'm ready to distribute the paper. PM me your email, or email my account if you're interested. I'll only be taking orders for a week and a bit from now cos I've almost reached the full capacity on my list, so people, if you're serious bout this exam don't hesitate to contact me because I won't have time later to give it to you (not even joking here, I'll be in SWOTVAC hibernation mode). Trust me, doing this paper will only benefit you in your exam prep :)
