Yep same with me i struggle to stay awake after like 3pm :s
I get 7-8 hours sleep most nights, exercise a fair bit - play footy for like an hour a day and sometimes go for jogs when i get home. I have a coffee every now and then but taht only helps for a few hours then you it hits you in the afternoon....
But yeah i reckon we should just get some more sleeeeeep :/

Even if I get 8 hours sleep, I still feel sleepy when I get home. Thus, inevitablely, coffee must be taken to overcome this disorder.

Coffee, once again, ENDORSED
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

I don't like coffee, but I drink loads of lemonade to compensate. It helps me, but sometimes a early night is all you need. Investing in a good pillow, and if you can afford it a good mattress isn't the worse idea in the world. :)
‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."

What I did was the second I find the teacher explaining something useless or something that I already knew, I close my eyes for a couple of minutes, and doze a moment or two. Body got so used to it that I wake up almost everytime the instant the teacher finishes explaining something.

Works like magic.
Oh mang i wish i was this pro :(

I agree. I started drinking coffee ever since uni and has worked for me. Just take something with caffeine.

Do you go on jogs in the morning? That's the best time, jumps up your metabolism levels for the day. There is a very noticeable difference in my productivity and energy levels for the day when I do go for a run in the morning compared with when I don't.

Do you have sunlight pouring into your study area? Melatonin is secreted in your body when its dark, and tells you to fall asleep. Exposure to sunlight throughout the day counteracts this, so make sure you get enough outdoor time :D (kinda hard though in this weather).

I find that on weekend afternoons, I find myself getting drowsy, only to realize I should open my blinds, and voila ..

I must be lucky since I rarely feel tired. I wake up at around 7am and go to bed at 2am.

I play sports a lot though so I'm always keen to do something. Even when I fall asleep I could lace em up and go for a run. It's probably my history of playing FPS shooters late throughout the night.

Like many people have said above, the logical conclusion is you're just not getting enough sleep.

The idea that 8 hours of sleep is ideal doesn't really have any scientific basis at all (penn and teller did an episode on this haha so its what im going off).

Maybe youre one of those people who really need 9 hours or something. Most of us could use more sleep than we get to be honest, people used to sleep way longer before electric lighting.

If you dont have some urgent need to stay up and do work i think getting a decent sleep is a good idea. You concentrate and learn much better all day and i hear it helps with retaining memories. For me personally i also found it impacted my health overall, if i didn't sleep enough i just started getting random headaches or aches and things like that.

If you dont get enough sleep the night before, it puts you out for all of the next day as well, then you need more sleep the next night to catch up.

Try sleeping longer and see if that works, if not maybe see your doctor.

I take heaps of vitamin C everyday... helps get rid of any colds coming on also... don't know if it helps with tiredness though. :)
Just on a little side note huge doses of vitamin C have been proven to not work for preventing the common cold and if its that chewable form for Vitamin C it can really screw up your teeth (Thats the acid bit of the Ascorbic Acid)
